My New Mustang

I guess I haven’t posted on here in a while. I just don’t have a lot to write about to update my blog on a regular basis. But anyway, I finally bought myself a new car, it’s the first nice or even decent car I have ever owned and it’s about time. It should be fun until the first snow fall that is.

I picked up the new iPad a couple of months back. It happens to be the first Apple product that I have ever bought. I pretty much use it like a laptop or notebook, a little productivity and a little games. I may try writing and illustrating a book with it at some point. Should be fun.

My next book is coming along nicely, even though it’s taking a little longer than I expected. I’m to easily distracted at the moment.

My sunset sketch

I have been dabbling with Sketchbook Pro (among other drawing apps) on my Mom’s iPad lately. I have to say it’s pretty fun to work with. Not quite a Wacom tablet killer, Sketchbook has a few limitations, but it certainly has it’s uses considering the price difference between the two. Sketchbook just needs to support larger canvases and it’ll be golden.

When the next generation iPads come out next spring, I’m going to have to look into getting one. For a device that doesn’t really have any uses, it certainly is a lot of fun to play with.

Mistletoe’s Night now for the Kindle

Mistletoe’s Night is now available on the Amazon Kindle. I don’t own a Kindle so I’m uncertain as to how well it renders the pages or how well the illustrations show up in black and white. From what little I’ve seen from the ‘preview’ it should be okay. The text does run beyond a single page in most instances much like the iPad version, but that I don’t have any control over.

Theme change again, again

I’ve been monkeying around with WordPress for the last month or so. I think I now have a pretty good handle on it’s inner workings, so I’ve been able to make this theme a little more compact and unique from the pedestrian default look, or my old theme.

Anyway, I may still make some changes to the graphics through the next several weeks, but I hope I can stick with this one for quite some time before I get bored with it.

Mistletoe now on iBookstore

You can now purchase a digital copy of Mistletoe’s Night through the Apple iBookstore app for the iPad and iPhone. Hopefully I can get it on the other ebook devices (like the Kindle) as well. To find it, simply type ‘mistletoe’ in the search box in the iBooks app. You can also buy it as an epub file from Lulu as well; which should be viewable on all the ebook devices out there, but I’m not 100% sure.

Update: I’m now in the process of making it available on the Kindle through its respective service. I don’t have a Kindle so I don’t really know how its going to look, but from what I could tell from the preview the formating might be a little goofy, and obviously the illustrations are in black and white.

Home from my trip

I’m home from my trip to Boston. My cousin’s wedding was quite nice with a great location; even my hotel room had a great view of the city. Anyway, it was nice to get away for a weekend and visit a place I had not been to in a long time.

I took a ton of pictures on this trip; some of them didn’t turn out as nice as I would have liked, but that’s how it goes sometimes.

I also went to my first Packer game over the weekend. It was only a preseason game but it’s better than nothing, and now I can say I’ve been to one. I just wish I would have brought a camera besides the one on my phone.

Summer update

Not much to write about these days. I really want to have more consistency with my posts but the reality is: I really just don’t have anything to write about. Anyway, I am still trying to work on another book or two, but it’s slow going; it’s hard to get motivated. I have some other programming project ideas that I’d like to take a crack at but, but once again I just can’t find the time to squeeze them in. I have a good weekend coming up so we’ll see.

New camera

Bowl of popcorn

I finally made the plunge and bought a new camera, but this time went for a Canon SLR. It’s only an entry level model (Rebel XS), but it was a really good deal on Newegg.com; plus it came with a telephoto lens. I should have plenty of fun with it.

At least now I can get back to taking pictures again. All I need now is a decent bag for it.

I dumped some of the photos that I’ve taken with this camera in the last day on my Picasa photo album.

Finished illustrating another textbook

My Jack and Jill drawing

I just finished the last of the illustrations for the thermodynamics textbook I’ve been working on. Hopefully everything comes through okay, and my part is finished. I can finally focus more time on my own book and other things.

I’ve also been looking at getting an iPad to use as an inexpensive drawing tablet. I currently have a very serviceable seven year old Wacom Intuos tablet, but I still have some trouble drawing strait lines and shaping objects on it. And I’m still in the market for a new camera as well.

Oh, and I hope to install the latest Ubuntu sometime this week as well.

I just setup a Twitter account, as you can see by the icon on the right side of this page. I don’t know how aggressive I will be in actually using it, but I figured I may as well join the club. The wallpaper used on my Twitter page is an image strait from my next book.

Also, I’ve nearly completed all the illustrations for the Thermodynamics textbook. But barring that, I don’t have anything else to really talk about right now.
